In the last 4 to 6 years, we have seen the word ‘entrepreneurship’ gain global prominence. With the best startups Mexico, we have had an introduction of university courses based on it, seminars and forums organized because of it, newsletters, articles and books published concerning it and the list goes on. In that span of time, renowned global entrepreneurs have also come out to share the nuggets of wisdom that have brought them to the top of the pile. Things certainly are going the way of entrepreneurship. Now, if you are new to this whole concept and are just trying to get by, I want to assure you that this article is just for you. We want to help you become a better version of yourself. They say the biggest room in the house is that for improvement, so we are going to help you become a better entrepreneur.
To become an even better entrepreneur, you need to jump straight out of your comfort zone. There is a need to adopt a certain kind of positive anxiety in order to get ahead. I call it positive since too much of it will ultimately hinder your overall performance. You will tend to overthink and overreact in situations that merely need you to calm yourself. Let’s just say you will need optimal stress. Sufficient to keep awake, alert and active and not too much to turn you inside out. By doing this, you will slowly but surely start stepping into new territory where you can learn more and perform more.
The next item has to do with time. Time is a very crucial resource especially because it is non-renewable. So going forward, you need to start making better use of it. Avoid needless distractions that don’t work toward your ultimate goal. Squeeze the most out of your day to get the best of the time available to you. You will witness wonders when you start maximizing the time you have.
Think about the team as well. Don’t be fooled into thinking that the prominent entrepreneurs you see around did it all by themselves. There is always a powerful unseen team behind the main individual who makes things happen in a startup company success. No man is an island, is the adage, and a startup is no different. Bring in some talented individuals with skill and vision, and you will see your business evolve into the next level in no time at all.
Finally, consider two things; calendar dates and outsourcing. Now, as much as you have a visionary team, keep in mind that you won’t be able to handle absolutely everything. Sometimes the costs involved will lead you down the road of outsourcing. So beforehand, look for the right firms to outsource certain services to. Let them be a reflection of who you are and operate on the same or almost the same business philosophy. This will help your startup retain the same level of consistency as that of your workplace. Again, use a calendar to schedule events and duties and not a to-do-list. To-do-lists will help you procrastinate more since they might not have priorities set. A calendar, however, is time-based and time is an excellent tool to help you set priorities.
